This exhibit features the same moveable walls as the Lady Elgin exhibit, along with a wall-sized interactive map showing the routes Bill Pinkney traveled and videos of some of his travel. There is also a touch screen interactive and a custom made interactive display that fits around an architectural column. A touch screen interactive also allows visitors to engage with some of the lessons he taught from his boat.

The museum needed a new way to express its gratitude to its donors, so we developed this wall mounted display that utilizes backlit graphics for seamless future updates. It also features a touch screen that provides more in-depth information about the museum’s fundraising efforts and endowment contributors.
CHICAGO: From Muddy Marsh to Metropolis, 2021
Design: Lafferty VanHeest & Associates and Spaces to Experiences
Fabrication and Installation: Spaces to Experiences
A flood in early 2020 wreaked havoc with the museum’s collection and furniture, so they called us in for repairs and updates. In this installation, we transformed their reception area into exhibit space, incorporating a custom reception desk that also details as a retail counter.
